2003 mazda protege transmission failure
This, to me, is a total wtf moment. One day my girl called me saying the car wouldnt shift into gear. Remembered to myself that happened to me once and i just slammed that shii back to park and still ran for a lil while until that call. Wasnt the cable, wasnt the nss, wasnt the brake switch, IT WAS A ROUND PIECE OF METAL STUCK WHERE THE MECHANISM INSIDE THE TRANS GOES INTO A LITTLE CIRCLE HOLE TO ENGAGE AND CHANGE THE GEAR AS SELECTED! Now, i did open it up and i found where it sheared off from (the differential looking gear where the axles go into) it was one of the round studs that hold the thing together. But what the f would cause this. Ever since, i gotta new trans but the car is not the same no matter what i do it wont go into any gear correctly, wont shift at the right times, it wants to shut off at times, it squeals, and im about to squeal . Need some advice and maybe some closure as to why tf that piece would shear off like that. No other damage whatsoever which is crazy.
