2001 Protege chirping/cricket noise
2001 Protege high pitched chirping/cricket noise from front passenger wheel while driving straight and turning left. There is also a low, clunking noise at low speeds and turning.
At first I thought it could be the brake pads wearing out, but pads are okay. But that doesn't even fit the bill since it doesn't make the noise when braking. However, the passenger side pads were worn unevenly (tapered) and the rotor had some minor divets, thickness seemed okay. Couldn't tell if it was warped. I didn't have a problem with pushing piston back in caliper.
Would love some help with identifying what is causing these noises. I have very little car experience except for changing oil, brake pads and calipers.
Thank you!

Taper wear most often indicates a problem with the caliper slides or the pad frozen in the bracket. Either one will allow braking, but the stuck side will wear less. The noise could very well be from the brakes, applying them would be similar to placing your hand on a ringing bell. Your hand silences the bell just as the brake pads silence minor noise from the pad/rotor contact.
