Default 2000 mazda protege LX

k i need help cause i can't figure out whats wrong or anything i do figure out doesn't seem to work.
Now this car has a 1.8 Litre DOHC motor in it roughly 87,000km on it, it has a weapon R short ram intake, 2.75 inch magnaflow exhaust with a cat delete due to mecanical issues and not having money at the time to replace it. The ignition coil pack's were changed about 10,000km ago so nothing should be wrong there all the spark plugs were changed nothing should be wrong there but i will check it again you never know. The injectors have had a flush done to them. and the oil is changed every 5,000km give or take 500km with 5w-30 castrol gtx non syntheic oil.
Now my problem is how is this car so gutless, thats not even an understatment my ford focus and this car had the same amount of horse power and it destroy's this car any time of the day in a race. I let my gf drive my car so i could drive her's and i floor the gas it makes alot of noise but does not go anywhere. Now there has to be something wrong with this car does anyone have an idea of why it's like this..

ive looked around and from what it seems, the friction plates inside the auto tranny could be worn out which would explain the power loss and some of the hessitation so im going to check that out tomorrow

Is the engine over revving, especially in OD. Is there an apparent torque difference when you take the car out of OD. Check tans fluid level .... how old? does tranny fluid need to be changed. good luck . Post your findings please, there are other 2001 Protege owners out here

thanks for the reply i actually have not even touched it yet i had my auto body mechanic start working on some rust damage on it, and aparently its been in an accident before it was never reported but the person who did the previous work on it never fixed it just covered it up so the body rebuild is taking longer than planned hopefully by thursday i have the car back, and no it has never over reved it is droping the rpm's like it goes from 600prm to 250rpm it kinda flucuates but i think thats because of the cold air intake it never did that before it was put on, and yeah there is a bit of a diffrence when you take it out of od, and i will check the tranny fluid and let you know hopefully thursday what i find.
