1999 Protege LX Automatic Hesitation When Shifting
Sometimes my car does the following:
When I go to put the car into reverse from being in park it hesitates for a second and then goes into the gear. This also happens when I try to shift the car from reverse to drive, it will hesitate for a second or two and then go into gear. Sometimes it will buck forward. After it goes into gear there are no problems knock on wood, except for one time my overdrive light started flashing, but since that one time when it was flashing for a few seconds it has not come back on since.
Any ideas what this may be? I am leaning towards either a motor or trans mount possibly

RE: 1999 Protege LX Automatic Hesitation When Shifting
I learned from a different forum that if your car doesn't respond to you pushing the gas pedal whenever you pull it out of park it may be an issue with the egr valve (a pricey piece, I have the same problem on the exact same car lol). I'm guessing when you hit the gas pedal it revs, but does nothing, then jolts whenever it kicks in? That's what my car does and the egr valve is bad on it.
