New here. Had my 03 Protege5 for about 2 weeks. 82,000 miles, 5 spd. Manufactured 9/02, outside of intake manifold TSB shutter valve bolts recall. Driving fine, suddenly idle loping, almost stalling with burning plastic smell. Hard to start after I turned it off. Hooked up my Ancel - got a P0300, P2009, P0090, P0660 and a pending P0401. ??????? Looked them all up - misfires,intake manifold runner control circuit has excessively low voltage for bank 1, a fault found within the fuel pressure regulator control circuit, intake manifold tuning valve control circuit/open, and of course the pending EGR restriction. Sooooo….. WHERE should I start????? Anyone have a similar experience? Any help appreciated.

 

Got a pair of alligator clips, hooked to battery, tested both switches, only left one clicked. Off to O’reilly’s, got a new switch and an egr valve. Replaced both-egr not so hard with a short wrench for inside bolt. Started it - ecu reset, problem solved, running great.
