Default 02' P5 Auto Door Lock Broken

Hey everyone. I have a 2002 P5 and my right rear automatic lock has failed. The manual lock still works but when i activate the auto lock it just makes a loud whinning/grinding sound and does nothing. The auto window still works and as i said before the manual lock works fine.

I was told that it would cost less to buy a new door then to fix it. I was wondering if anyone had experience in this area and/or knows how to fix it?

Thanks in advance!

The part cost $48 at Autozone. After taking the door apart and failing to fix the power lock actuator myself, I put the door panel back together and now just use the key (takes you back to the old days right?) until I could justify spending that money for a new actuator.

I have '03 and my right rear door lock went out. Got a new door lock actuator from autozone for $48 and now it works fine. It is very tight and awkward to replace the actuator.
