Mazda BT 50 & Pickup Trucks While Mazda may not be known for their trucks, they have always produced quality reliable trucks for both hauling cargo, or simply crusing. BT 50

Default stuck at work w/1988 B2200

I have an 88 Mazda B2200 pickup and it will start, but dies as soon as I turn the key from the start position. I can keep it running by periodically turning the key to start and grinding the starter gear, so I'm guessing its not fuel. Help me, Anyone got an idea?

Yep. This is the CLASSIC bad electrical portion of the ignition switch, these DO go bad on these trucks as they age. EXACT same symptoms mine had; I replaced such on my '88 about a decade ago. This is NOT the mechanical part of the ignition switch, so you still will retain the same key. This is in the electrical portion that sits under this. This is about a 1-hour repair; the steering wheel must come off, inexpensive threaded steering wheel puller or free AutoZone loaner.
