Default rebuilding 89 b2200

okay so two years ago i bought a 89 b2200. After driving it for a few months started to have problems with it smoking so i relpaced the valve seals and all the gaskets. this helped for a while but the smoking started up again after about 2 weeks. So now ive decided to just rebild the whole engine. I am not to framiliar with mazda engines so what i am wondering is...
A. What are some good recources for rebuliding these engines
B. Is this engine even worth rebuilding

Im not looking to build something fast of a coustom car im just looking to make it reliable any help is greatly apreaciated.

how much have you gotten done on your rebuild ? i'm in the middle of re-ringing my B2200 by the looks of the cylindersi don't think it'll take a ring job. it'll have to be bored with new pistons to fit. I don't know the history of this 1989 B2200 but it looks to be the original engine with 177000 miles on the odometer. someone had changed the head gasket (you can tell by the gaskets) it was neglected. it's supposed to stop raining for the weekend i'll get the pan off and take the ridge off the top of the cylinders and take the pistons out, then i'll use my telescopeing gauges and dialindicater to see just how much wear there actually is.

every thing ive seen on rebuilding these engines is expensive....really really expensive. but then again im used to building chevy 350's which are dirt cheap to build. You can get a rebuild short block here in dallas from city motor supply for around $450 with a warranty which isnt a whole lot more than rings and bearings and seals, besides you wont have to worry about maybe having to bore it get new pistons etc especially if its your daily driver, you caould have the motor in and out in a day

i probably buy and install 25 motors a year from them. they work real well, in the last 4 years ive probably had 2 or 3 bad motors but none here lately. and if you do get a bad one they will replace it its warrantied
