im new to the forums and i know little tonothingabout mazda problems.

my neigbor has a problem with his 93 mazda mx-6 2.5 DOHC 5-speed tranny.

he says ever since it over heated on him it has not been running properly and when he would come to s stop sign or light it would start to die so he would have to push the gas pedal to keep it running. and it runs and sound a little different then it did when he bought it.

he has replaced the battery but it was dead and i tried to listen but it was so dead that it would not jump it either , but he said when the battery was good it would just turn over and over,

i thought it might of been the fuel pump because i did not hear the whirring noise, but he said that he put a little bit of gas in the throttle body and it did not even try to start?

so i dont know if it could still be a fuel problem or a blown head gasket?? any help please?

 

Blown head gasket sounds likely to me. Sweet smell from the exhaust and excessive moisture too? A compression test would probably not be a bad idea either.

 

I agree. I had the same issue with my 93 mx-6 5 speed and i replaced the head gasket and resurfaced the head and its been driving great ever since.

 

cant get the car started i left my truck hooked up to it for 45 minutes and still wouldnt start he needs a new battery so i couldnt tell u if there was a sweet smell or excssive moisture,

i was thinking more along the lines of a blown head gasket myself,

so the best way to find out if it is a blown head gasket is hook up apressurizer to the radiator cap and pressurize it and see if there is any coolent seeping out?
