Default alternator problem?

Hi I have a 94 mazda mx-3 GS 1.8L ATX. A couple weeks ago while driving my battery light started flashing on and off untill it stayed on. At that time the car ran off the battery for a short time and then died.

I jumped the battery and it ran for a bit and tgen died again. So, alternator, right? Thats what I thought and what everyone told me. So I get a refurbished alternator and install it. Got the car jumped and let it run for a while with the jumper cables attached.

I removed the cables and after just a couple of minutes the car died again, and wouldnt start without being jumped again.

Now im stuck, does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Thanks

With the engine running, what voltage is the alternator pumping out?

Probably a bad alternator. Turn the key on without starting the car and the battery light should come on. If it does not then the bulb blew and the system circuit is incomplete. Check the obvious, corroded or poor connections. Remove the alternator and take it to a parts store to be tested off the car.
