Default Blower motor removal help needed (2000)

I'll start by saying I owe a beer or five to whomever can get me through this one.

I inherited a 2000 MPV, which apparently hadn't had the cabin air filter replaced....perhaps ever. It had enough debris (leaves, twigs, etc.) above the filter to make a few birds' nests. In removal, some debris fell down into the area that holds the blower motor. Running the blower now results in a loud buzzing, and I can hear something banging about in there when I start the blower.

I set out today to remove the blower motor to clean it out, and I found it impossible- simply because of the screw that's behind it (toward the front of the van). I took quite some time to find a tool that could even get into that small space- but I can't see what I'm doing, and sticking my fingers back there to guide the tool effectively blocks me from getting it in there.

My next thought would require a tool I do not have- but could easily acquire. I thought about simply removing the entire duct section into which the motor is bolted. I'd like someone to confirm it is, indeed, held in the way it looks. It appears I need to remove two screws on the back (relative to the van, visible with the glove box removed)-then one between the housing and the passenger side footwell wall. After that, it appears all that's left is a plastic trim screw on the driver-side end of the housing.

Am I anywhere close to reality on this?

Thnaks much!

Be well
-UF
