Another Mystery Oil Leak Problem??
#11
Well, I have been starting my car and testing it. It is 70 degrees here today and I tried it. Started up just fine and idled good. When I put it in drive and let it sit with the brake on it held at 1000 rpms and no stuttering whatsoever.
How easy is it to clean the maf? I'm pretty hand with tools and I know a bit about cars, so I might try it today before it rains. If anyone could show me a diagram and tell me what is the best way to clean it.... I think I might check the pcv valve too.

2000-2001 pcv valve

You said " I think I might check the pcv valve too. " This is a big undertaking on the 2000-2001 2.5L. This is a Ford engine and the pcv valve is located under the fuel rail which is under the intake manifold. Even the Mazda dealer in Austin, Tx. told me they do not touch the pcv unless rebuilding the engine. (See the Cougar forum for more on this engine).
I used Seafoam vacumed into the air filter area to clean my intake and I have not been able to duplicate my low idle condition.
I have added this back to my insurance and will be using as everyday driver to check things out.
