I have a 91 MPV, and wheneverit is in park the transmission makes this grinding noise. When I shift into drive or reverse is stops. It does still move, but I dont really feel safe in it. Before this started, it wouldshift ata very high rpm, and it was rather jumpy and shaky when it did finally shift.I was told to change the transmission filter, does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions? I would greatly appreciate them. Thanks.

 

I would clean the filter good. It is a metal screen and can be cleaned. New one is like 80 bucks as i recall.

 

A new filter was actually $20, so I threw a new one in just for the heck of it, and it fixed the noise and the shifting problems. I can hardly feel it shift now. Case closed, thanks guys.
