Throttle Sticking
I have a 2000 Mazda Millenia S and the throttle pedal from time to time feels as if it is sticking just comming off idle! I cleaned the throttle body and its super clean! When I was having issues with the timing belt being stretched and causing the car toidle erratic and stall I got desperate and adjusted the big screw on the throttle body! Does anyone know how to adjust this and get it back to the factory settings? When I look into the throttle body the throttle blade feels like it is closing to much and sticking. Could any of the throttle linkage at the drivers side back firewall cause this?Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Well I think I got it fixed I hope! I adjusted the ThrottleAdjusting Screw(TAS) to where it just touches and opens the throttle blade, and then locked it down! Then I loosened the 2 Throttle Position Sensor(TPS) screws, unhooked the connector, and hooked up my ohmmeter to the C&D terminals of the TPS. Then I used a 0.015 feeler gauge between the TAS and the Throttle Lever and adjusted the TPS just to where I had no continuity and tightened the TPS. Then Idid the same thing witha 0.007 feeler gauge to where I just have continuity. Then when I got it running I grounded the #10 pin on the DL-1 and adjusted the big screw(AIR MIXTURE SCREW) to where the car idles about 650-700 RPMS. Seems to be running great now! Feels like a new car! I wish I could figure out how to Copy and Paste from my Mitchell Repair CD, but it wont let me[:@]Maybe Babyhuey can add something on this subject?
