REVVing at 6000 rpm

REVVing at 6000 rpm
Hey folks,
Just got a 2001 Millenia ...When I step on the gas sometimes it revs real hard and fast, at around 6000rpm.. Is there something here i should be worried about. Then it jerks a lil till i backoff the gas. And it happens when i give it a quick throttle and pull back slowly.
