Default Remote stopped working

Hi folks. I have a '98 Xedos 9 and my central locking remote has packed in. Anyone have any ideas wher I start? Replaced battery, obviously, no joy there. I have no clue where to go next. Everything seems OK using the key, no obviously sticky locks that I can notice. Might it be the remote is dead and I need to replace and re-program a new one? Any suggestions gratefully acepted. Thanks.

If it were me i would go to were the purchase was made and tell them your problem. I have manual locks so i wouldnt know to much about alarms other than installing them.

Private sale I'm afraid. I knew about it when I bought the car, but the rest of the motor is in such good condition, I couldn't refuse just for that. Now I want to repair it but mechanics is my bag, not electronics. Does anyone know where the send/receive unit is on the car, apparently the remote has been checked and is sending a signal, so it may be a problem with the unit on the car itself.

Have you tried to just reprogram that remote? Is not that unusual to have a programmed remote suddenly just quit working and simply reprograming gets everything back to normal.
