Default no vacuum

Hi everyone! Back again with another question. I recentily put new head gaskets, belts, and water pump on my 02 2.5 kl milly. Now that I can finally keep the engine running ( although not eaisly), I don't seem to have vacuum to any of the lines around the EGR valve. Only have vacuum to the pressure regulator, not the long hose that goes to the air filter. There is vacuum comming from the back of the engine on the short hose that goes to some sensor on the firewall. There is a black box under the intake manifold near the EGR valve, can't feel any vacuum on any of those lines either. What is that box for anyway? Engine has no power if I try to give it gas, will die if I put It in gear. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
