Question High Fuel consumption

My 2002 2.5 Millenia would average no less than 20 miles per gallon after using a full tank of gas now it's around 16 miles per gallon.

The car stalled about 3 months ago because of a bad distributor cap so I took it to the mechanic and they replaced the distributor cap, rotator, spark plugs and wires. The problem now is that I noticed the decreased miles per gallon/increase gas consumption.

Do you think the problem I had with the distributor cap has something to do with the high fuel consumption that I have now?

I replaced the air filter today and I will see iit that changes anything. I also I checked the pressure in the tires and it is normal.

Any sugestions on how i can fix this problem?
Thank you.

that's not quite true. you first have to put the car in diagnostic mode, which involves jumping a couple of pins in the diagnostic connector. and, since i dont have a 2.5, i dont know which ones they is. then you set the timing.
