Hi I just bought a '99 Millenia recently. Not the S/supercharge. I tried the heated seat but it feels like its not working. [&:] It felt like its just heated because Ive been seating on it from quite a long time already. I dont know much about cars so please bear with me. How can you make this work again? Where's the wires and stuff for this? I didnt see any in the manual on the "how to's" for this.

Any advice you can give me is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

 

each seat heater works independent of the other. however, on each seat, there is the lower and the back heater, they are in series. the sensor for each is in the back heater. usually, the lower heater element burns out, you have to take apart the seat. the lower element costs about 66 bucks, the back cost twice that. in order to test which is bad, you have to remove the back panel, and ohm each part. if there is no continuity, that part is bad. try the passenger heater, it usually works, because it gets less use.

there is quite a bit of labor involved in repairing the seat heater, i have done 3 of them. to remove the lower seat cover, which you have to do, you will have to break the bezel around the seat switches. also, hog rings hold the seat cover to the pad. you have to remove the seat cover, then the heater element is stuck to the pad. getting the cover off is a real pain the first time, and i have special tools to remove and install the hog rings. if you dont know exactly where the clips are to remove the back panel, you will break them, like i did the first time, but i was able to jb weld the clips back on. however, it looks like it would be very easy to break the panel. now i can do it easily without breaking anything. i take the backs off of the seats, and leave them in the car. except for one that i had to change the heater in, too. they are very light, the lower part is really heavy. also, it is tricky to remove the harness to it.

the heated seats are very nice. i use them every day now. makes a big difference.

 

I tried the passenger seat and it works real good. I think I'll observe my driver seat again. Maybe it just needs more time to heat up than the passenger seat. Thanks for the help. If I've got more questions I'll post it here.

 

nope, it's hosed. btdt. you just gotta figger out if it is the lower or upper heater, then change it, or pay someone to.

 

I downloaded a manual for 96 model millenia. It explained how to work on them the web site is "http://rapidshare.com/files/51248650/Millenia-1996.rar". I have a 2000 model but much of the electronics are the same. Good Luck!
