Buying 02 Mazda Millenia 154k!!??
Hey guys, I am new here looking for advice, my Fiancée's 01 Ford Focus crapped out this week, I was driving it and all of a sudden the radiator hose busted and all the coolant was lost within a matter of 30 seconds to 1 minute of me getting the car off the Hwy, the head gaskets ended up being warpped, the mechanic said he might have to replace timing belt also, etc and quoted me $1400!! Well heres my question my Grandmother has her 2002 Madzda Millenia, and is about to sell it because she does not want to trade it in, she has offered it to me for $2500. It is loaded out leather heated seats moonroof e.t.c. but here is the kicker it has 154k but it has been maintained 3k oil change intervals from day one, and never been in the shop for nothing but regular maintence. So my question is, is this a good deal, how long do these cars run? Anyone have any high mileage millenia's? Anything you guys can tell me is a tremendous help, thanks guys!!

$2500 isn't a bargain but it could last you. You will need to replace the timing belt and water pump at the same time, if you want it to really have a chance at 4 or 5 more years on the road. To do that will run you several hundreds plus other random problems. But hell it beats walking
It doesnt sound like too bad of a deal to me. i payed 2500 for my 96 S model three years ago with bad axels(another 500)with 150,000 miles and its still going strong at 185,00.could use a little work but not worth it at this point (struts, bushings, etc) .My sons first car was a 96 NON supercharger that he got for 1500 (smashed passenger door and hood) but ran great for the 4 months he had it (tire blow out and into the wall) Its a shame that a 10 year old car that cost 30,000 + new is now worth 2 grand. My 1996 S cost 36,000 in 1996.CRAZY!!!If granny took care of it id take a chance if i were you.
