so i was driving and pull up to a stop sign and transmission went out on me, the car was shaking real bad before it went out. any idea what could be wrong, and engine light came on it said speed sensor. mazda will charge about 3500 to replace.

 

was it the input or output speed sensor ? usually the output, or VSS (vehicle speed sensor) normally locate on top of the differential of the transmission,you can bring it to a local trans shop to have they look at, if it just the sensor, they can just fix just that, or if it totally broke, then they will have to go internal,but the price should be much less then what mazda charging you andthe rebuild will come w/ warantee.
