My 1992 Miata will not idle. The car was stored for 2 years. Got it running a couple of months ago and has been doing great. Then last week it just stopped idling. 1500 rpm and above is fine but when coming to a stop it just shakes and sputters and dies!! It starts fine but just won't idle. The fuel pump has been replaced, new air cleaner, plugs, wiring, oil and filter. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

 

Don't know about your situation, but what you describe is common on the 6 when the air accordion tube has crack/s in it; too much air is by-passing the MAF meter. At higher RPM it's no big deal, but at lower rpm the ratios are off enough that the computer is confused.

Then again, I don't even know if you have a MAF meter..... :-)
