I’ve just bought my first Miata. Runs fine, no warning lights. And that’s sort of the problem. The rev counter and Speedo have 2 black circles each. I’m assuming these are warning lights of some description but I can’t tell what for because they never illuminate.

Actually one of them does. When the key is turned to the on position the “Check Engine” light illuminates.

What are the other 3 for?

Have you tried shining a torch on them?

 

Yes I have but it doesn’t reveal anything. I would think someone would know as these are stock gauges. Every Google search brings up a company wanting to sell me new gauges but I can’t find the info I want.
