Performance problem when ac turned on
My friend has an 02' Miata. When the A/C is turned on the engine dies. The fuel pressure was reading high so a mechanic turned it down and its hard to keep it running with the a/c on. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
ALL a/c systems have a high idle circut (relay). because the a/c compressor adds a bigger load (10-20hp, depend on app) at idle, the high idle circut kicks in (norm a 2-300 rpm increase). the rpm increase will offset the extra load placed on the motor and keep it running.
not sure how the '02 sys is set up, but the increase in fuel press might be caused by a bad/non-op compress (press increase to kick up the rpm?).
how does the a/c sys work? OK, not as good as it used to, or not at all? ALOT of things operate the a/c sys, the more you can narrow it down, the more we can help, lets us know.
