2001 miata fuel or ignition problem?
would appreciate any help, particularly if you've experienced the same problem.
i have a 2001 miata, and when i am driving on the freeway (usually after at least 15-20 mins) in 6th gear at about 75 mph my car slows down and won't accelerate. usually this happens for 5 seconds or so and then it returns to normal with the check engine light blinking and then it stays on.
the other night the problem persisted for about a minute with the check engine light blinking and my car wouldn't accelerate past 60 mph but it was still running. i can't be sure because i have a cold right now, but i thought i smelled something from the car.
the check engine light code says "random misfiring." i had replaced all the spark plugs but that hasn't helped. i understand that the blinking signifies a problem with the ignition, but i'm not sure.
has anybody come across this problem or have any insight?
thanks!
