Question

1990 miata parking brake

Just replaced the brake pads all around. Now the parking brake is not holding. I have adjusted the parking brake lever to the recommended 7-9 clicks. Is there any chance the I may have backed out the piston retract screw too much? Could that be the problem?
Any other suggestions would be appreciated!
