Default Rear Caliper piston

I searched topic on caliper on this thread but have been getting mixed information.

I have 2017 CX9 and I was changing my rear brake pad. I activated the EPB service mode before changing the pad, After installing the brake pads, the caliper would not fit thinking the piston was not in all the way. So I turned the EPB service mode off and not the piston came out all the way. Now, I have red break light on the dash and yellow blinking light on EPB button.

I ordered piston compression kit that is arriving tomorrow. Do I rotate the piston or push the piston? Im reading mixed message on the thread.
*How do I know when to stop rotating the piston?
*Can I still push piston back in without damaging it if I'm not in service mode?
*When I put the piston back on, do I have to crack open the bleeder or remove the cap from master cylinder?

After putting the piston back on, should the light on my dash and EPB button turn off automatically? If not, how to I turn that off?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Unless you are experienced in brake overhauling & rebuilding don't mess around with it. Take the caliper into a brake repair specialist for a rebuild/overhaul.

Hey I know this is long past but did you ever figure this out? I've got the same issue happening now.

Thanks!
