Question Power liftgate

Hello All,

Just found and joined this forum. We have a brand new CX-9 GT, just picked it up a week ago. Today the power liftgate worked fine once, then stopped working.

No matter if I push the key fob button or on the dash, it just beeps three times and nothing happens. I opened it manually all the way and same thing, beeps 3 times and does not close.

Any ideas?

Made an appt with my local dealer tomorrow AM, will update this thread with what they find in case anyone else has a similar issue.

One week into ownership and this is the second glitch with the new car. Hmmmmm. Have had seven Hondas prior to this, our first Mazda. Not a warm fuzzy feeling right now.

Our Mazda has been perfect so far. Stick with it.

Good to know, hopefully this will be the only issue we encounter. Car is still at the dealer, seems after a couple of hours of diagnosing they are unable to figure out why the lift gate won't open and are now dealing with head office trying to see if it has been reported before.

No problems with mine either. One of the reasons we went Mazda is because we also have a 2014 Mazda 6 GT and it has been perfect.

They determined there was a fault with the lift gate module and are replacing the board today, hopefully that resolves it.

I thought I was the only one! When I brought my GT in for the same issue, they couldn't figure out the issue for weeks. They claimed my CX9 was the first in Canada to have this issue. It turned out to be a faulty latch for me. They changed it under warranty and I haven't had any issues since.

Interesting about the latch being faulty.. They did replace the module this morning and all is working again. We also had the TPMS light come on while driving on the highway on our third day with the car. I pulled off the road and checked all tires and they were fine, so I used the button to do a reset. The dealer checked it and said it must have just been a fault with the TPMS. So two faults in the first 2 weeks of ownership is a little unsettling. Guess time will tell.

I have this same problem but I assume it will be spendy, so I've just decided to live without it.
