Monitoring water pump leak in 2008 Mazda CX9
Hello all, I recently bought a 2008 Mazda CX9 and i see a lot of people reporting water pump failure after 150k miles. Mine has 188k miles and I am scared of this issue. When I looked up on the internet I saw someone suggesting to add UV dye to coolant and check the engine oil for the dye. So I bought this dye from AUTOZONE: https://www.autozone.com/test-scan-a...1oz/210227_0_0
My question is, will I be able to see the dye with the UV glasses by just checking the oil from the dip stick? How far should I drive to make sure that there is no leak?
I recently replaced the engine oil. Thanks for all the help.

Welcome to the forum
Ther is not really a lot reported if you are good in statistical math formulas in fact less then 1% of 1% of 1% reported. And that may be conservation estimate.
I don't even remember it has been so long since we had a Mazda with the issue you are worrying about in the shop? And we service close to approx. 400-450 vehicles a year.
Unless you had any indication of a coolant leak , head or head failure and or crack head or block really all you did was waste good money.
At your miles a basic and comprehensive cooling system cleaning and coolant replacement and even perhaps a new thermostat would have been a better service to have done.
You posted NOTHING that would have had me believe you have any problem except the being worried by reading to much internet information to psych you out? lol

Basic observations.
The first time you reach all the operating temperatures.
If you see an increase in the water temperatures that is higher than you normally notice it, or if you now hear the lifter and rocker making more noise than usual, or an increase in the moisture from the tail pipe after the engine has warmed up and you drive it for 15 20 minutes then is the time to start looking at things as to the cause.
