Default Keyless ignition malfunction warning light

Not sure why but battery went dead on 2020 CX9. After charging, car starts, everything works using fob but Amber warning light appears on IP stating a keyless malfunction. What caused this and can I clear it without going to dealer.
thanks in advance for your assistance.

Have you tried turning the car off, locking the doors, unlocking the doors and starting the engine?

Thanks. Tried that but didn't eliminate the message. Just trying to avoid trip to dealer - one hour away.....one downside to living in rural VT.

Disconnect the battery. Leave it for a hour. Reconnect battery. Lock & unlock via remote, open car, start car & see what happens.

Default 2007 mazda cx9 key issues

my 2007 cx9 key fob lights are not lighting up when I press them and they do not open the car. I am not able to get into the car.The metal key does not open the car on the door handle. I used a slim Jim to get the door open today. The alarm kept going off when the car was on. The metal key in the ignition turned the car on and I was able to drive but the alarm was going off as I drove. I removed the horn fuse to eliminate the sound. The red key light on the display is on. What is the problem here.

I just bought a new 2020 CX5 around 3 months ago. I always am paranoid about needing to lock my car doors. I always do. On my car when I depart it, I listen for the first beep and then the next beep that I know that it is locked. Couple of times I have gotten out of the car I don't hear it, so I pull on the door. If it's not locked I use the key fob (lock button) to lock it. That night after work the car didn't start. Luckily I work very close to home and my hubby was home so I called him. I was getting a key fob malfunction. He brought the second key fob and the key malfunction light on the dashboard stayed on. Roadside assistance came by and put the battery starter on and no problem the car came on. For grim_reaper, should I lock my car with by pressing the lock button on the key fob or utilize the two beeps after I depart the vehicle as knowledge that my car is locked?

Both options are fine. Nether is wrong, If you rely on auto locking, just listen for the second beep.

Hi grim_reaper. I also heard about a faulty power life gate module recall that soon will be. This they say is another reason that batteries can become drained. Mazda will announce a recall after they have sent all the dealers replacement parts. This was on Reddit's website.

We're not sure if there will be a recall. There is a service bulletin that gives certain VINs that has these evidently bad modules. Corkin, call the dealership service department with your VIN handy and see if your car is subject to the warranty replacement of the module. There is no alternative, it's gott'a be replaced if you have a bad one.
