Default help troubleshooting ignition/starter/Key FOB

I have a 2011 CX-9 with about $150k miles. Has been very reliable.

1.5 years ago daughters lost both Key Fobs, so I had to re-program them

about 3 weeks ago, the car would not start. Here is what I know

1. Car Battery is fine. had it tested. 1 year old
2. When either FOB is in the vehicle, the red "key" light is visible on dash. The key FOB won't unlock doors or activate hatch. both are completely dead. 1 has never been used.
3. Using the embedded switchblade key inside the FOB does not work either
4. when I try with the switchblade key, nothing happens. Starter does not turn over.
5. I have not tried replacement batteries for the FOB yet. Shouldn't the switchblade key override this in that case?
6. The car seems to have plenty of juice to power lights, radio, hatch, etc. there is power from the battery
7. The start never exhibited any symptoms prior. No noises or difficulty. always fired perfectly.

Any clues? could the FOBs and the switchblade key have been de-programmed? it seems as if the ignition does not recognize what it used to recognize.

thanks

update. I visited the service department of a local Mazda dealership

they said that when I got the 2 new FOBs (that had to be re-programmed) the dealer may not have re-programmed the switchblade key. Apparently that needs to also be programmed

So the next test is to replace the 2 FOB batteries. If they work, and the switchblade doesn't, I guess it was never programmed. If not, I wasted a lot of time thinking it was.
