It used to say that I had a text. I replied "read it", and would read me my new text.
Then, after 4 years, it changed.
Now it says I have a text, and allows me to download it. Downloading can take several minutes, while reading it was immediate.
Once downloaded, I can push a button to read it. The previous method was much better.

Being desperate, I looked at the manual. The only option in the manual is what it is doing now, which is lousy. I want to get back to what it used to do. Any ideas?

I recently changed from a Windows phone to an Android phone, but I am pretty sure it worked the old way for a month with the Android phone.
