Need desperate help. Dealer wanted to change oil control valve for $950. Would like to know where it is and see if DIY is possible. Does anyone know where the oil control valve is?? Please send a diagram or pic would be extremely appreciated.

 

$950, is that parts & labour? If so, how much is the parts vs labour?

 

$950 is parts and labor. Part at dealership is around 250; online retailer $90.

 

1---Is it actually necessary to change this oil control valve now, or is this just a scam by the dealer?
2---What will a local independent repair shop charge for this job?

 

What is your dealer's reasoning for wanting to change the valve?

Asked another way, is the engine running funny due to the Variable Valve Timing not functioning properly?
