Default Gear Shift Indicator Light Issue

I've spent several hours trying to trace to the fuse for the tiny bulb that illuminates the gear selector under the lens in the center console.I believe I shorted it out somehow testing for voltage. At any rate, is this controlled by another device or a fuse that is located in another location or am I way off track here? I've heard it could be other components like a rheostat or dimmer or something similar.

I'm basically looking for a easy-to-get-to switched 12v source for a fog lamp switch as I installed retrofit fog lamps and the car wasn't originally ordered with any.

Thanks,

Todd in Oxnard CA
