Hi Everyone,

I purchased a used car 4 months ago and i noticed a weird noise while shifting gear (specially or only 3rd gear). Previous owner said its because of breakpads and rotors. I changed those but still getting the noise. I read few articles in Mazda forum and got more confused what to do. I have booked a diagnosis with mazda service center.

My observations:
1. Automatic transmission:
Only while slowing down the vehicle speed i get those sounds. specially near the traffic signals.

2. Manual Transmission:
To identify the main issue i drove vehicle on manual transmission and found that whenever i am moving gear from 4 to 3 i am getting noise. Always getting this noise while changing gear from 4th to 3rd gear.

My major concern is repair cost. Whats the average cost i can expect? One of the article they mentioned to change the gearbox they quoted for ~$10000. Is it worth spending and repairing?

Model: 2016 CX9 Grand Touring
Engine: 2.5L I4 F DOHC 16v FWD
Basic warranty: Expired
Miles: ~120,000 miles on it.
Previous owner serviced on time.
