That seemed strange to me as well.

Hasn't owned one. No indication that one hasn't been driven. It's probably a safe bet that the OP's driven a couple of them as part of the normal evaluation process.

Myself, in considering a CX-5, I got a couple of "freebie" loaner vehicles from the local shop while having normal service done on my prior car. Spent a couple of days with each. Plenty time to allow for a handful of drives over different distances, terrain. Gave a very good estimate of overall comfort, at least for me.

I'll add that I'm not 100 percent happy with the comfort of the front seats either. But I'm also not built like an average person. If I had my way, really the only thing that I can think would make my CX9 more comfortable is for the seat base to be just a bit longer. This really only affects me on longer drives and I might have to make an extra stop or two to stretch my legs depending on length of that trip.

@MrBillMazda, I would suggest driving one. If you're worried about dealing with a sales person just to get an idea of the comfort level of the cabin just be straight with them and tell them that you have no intention of purchasing a vehicle today and that you are just test driving to get an idea of if you even like the vehicle or not. I'd even request an extended test drive. I've done this many times and the sales people never get pushy at the end. As a matter of fact, when I test drove my CX9 the sales person didn't even come with my wife and I which made it great.

Just wanted to add my opinion about the seats after two months of ownership of our 2020 Signature including a recent 18 hour three stop drive to South Florida. Yes, the seat bottom could be a little longer but I find the seats to be very comfortable, including on our 18 hour drive. I reclined the seat back a little to improve the leg room and had no issues during the drive. Maybe the seats are different in the Signature with the Nappa leather, I don't know.. The ventilation seems to work well. The 20" length of the seat bottom is the same as our BMW X3, not counting the 2" extenders and the 12" width between the bolsters is the same as well. In any event. I'm 6-1, 185 and had/have no issues. I guess it could be up to the individual.....who knows.

Default All about size

I think it depends on the driver's height and size. Mazda made it for Japanese people I am 5,57 ft and 152 pounds. I feel comfortable but I noticed that above 6 ft the problem starts.

I'm a new owner and having the car for about a month now I've realized a few things that a test drive would never reveal. I don't like that my right knee feels restrained. It does press up on the console. But, if you are doing some spirited driving, it actually does help with support. Yes? As for seating, I had to try about 4 different seat configurations before I found the one that works for me. Still working on it. And haven't done a long trip yet so I imagine it might change a bit as well. Guess you figure these things out with all cars. Test drove some roomier vehicles but this one just out-drove,-handled,-classed all of them. Love the car so far and looking forward to the summer.

I have this car for 12.000 miles now and Yes I do find the seats uncomfortable. You see when you test drive the car that is just not it, you do not have that much time with the car to tell all pros and cons.
The back is narrow closer to the top and it really hurts the back while driving long time. It is probably good for smaller backs like girls... I like the car but when I can I avoid driving it because of it. Makes you wanna get to the destination faster and get the hell out. The back should be wider. My 30$ amazon seat fills better))) and NO I can not put it in my car )))

Default Cx9 Seats Good for the first 2hrs

I am anticipating purchasing a 2021 or 2022 Signature, but wish they would do something about the seat problem. I cannot believe that Mazda would lose any money by providing a better seat, unless they have a stockpile to last for a decade. I really like the vehicle, but the seats are a big negative for me and my ailing back.
I have a 2010 and a 2019 Cx9. Seats in the 2010 are great, The 2019 are ok for the first 2 hours but after that I can’t wait to get out of the car. But I guess why would you want to drive a $40k car more then 2 hours?

Just bought a 2019 CX-9 touring and I am looking for padded seat covers. Can anyone offer suggestions please?

Thanks
