Thank you all for such great help, I fixed mine since I couldn't wait for the used unit I ordered to come in mail. Unfortunately, there are no returns on them so have 1 sitting around. Let me know if anyone interested taking off my hands. Please PM me.

You ordered a used DVD unit? The whole thing? I might be interested in that.

Default 2010 Mazda CX-9

I am so glad I found this post! I have a 2010 Mazda CX9 and bought the FPC cable noted above, followed the you tube instructions to remove the dvd player, and the instructions on how to take a part of the dvd and install the FPC cable. I had to buy two FPC cables only because I did not carefully read the instructions on how to insert the FPC cable, but 10.00 is better than 5K!!

when you say you have a used unit, did you mean the ribbon or the whole DVD player?

Default Worked for me!

Thank you all for the advice and resources. I just did the repair by myself and it worked. At first, I didn’t have the ribbon in far enough because I forgot about the tiny clips that hold it in. But once I secured it tighter, it worked like a charm. My kids are so happy! Don’t be intimidated! Anyone can do this. I took some photos that might help.

Where did you purchase your ribbon did you use the part listed above or another place? I ordered it and it's still not working and now the audio isn't working either. I have installed it both ways (even though I was sure the first way was correct ) and still nothing, Any idea appreciated

Default Dvd

I replaced the ribbon from Digikey and still have the same issue...black screen with Audio..Now I am searching for a replacement on ebay. I see a lot of rses for 07-08...do you guya know whether this will for an 2010? From the pictures, I don’t see any real differences for it not to work with my 2010. Should I gamble and purchase?

I am sitting here now with the ribbon purchased from digi-key and it does not work. Same as "wheelsofba" now instead of audio and the screen working when partially open; now the screen is completely dead and no audio whatsoever. Infact now it seems like the dvd player isnt even reading the disc... only inserting and ejecting discs.
looks like I'll have to find a whole new unit. (2008 cx9).

Default Repaired cx9 2010 dvd

My DVD player sound was working but once extended more than a 1/3 the screen would go black. Took the advice from this form. We repaired the ribbon cable today with the listed part in the form. It was fairly easy. We initially didn’t have the cable inserted all the way in and clipped down. So we fixed that and worked great.

Ripped cable ribbon

Original ribbon cable needing removed

Original ribbon cable before removing
