I had been watching youtube videos on how to replace the ball joint. I had done it on an Elantra, so I thought I had a pretty good idea on what to do.
I got the tire off, and this does not look like anything I have come across.
Can someone point me to a video or something on what to do with this?
It seems to me the ball joint is pressed into the lower arm assembly. If you have ONLY the ball joint, you may require the use of a hydraulic press for removal and installation. OR, you can replace the entire arm assembly with the ball joint already installed.
I only purchased the ball joint. I don't know how to get it out of the pinch bolt thing.
I have a press tool to get the ball joint out of the control arm.
I can't definitively say which option is better but having looked at the service manual, there is no mention of a ball joint replacement. All references I found show the arm and the bolt as one entire assembly.
You can check out the online service manual here. The site is for the Australian market but it should apply to most other TC CX-9s.
