Default Backup camera image is blurry

My 2020 CX-9 backup camera image is slightly blurry. I tried to adjust the contrast and the brightness. I cleaned the lens in the back. Any ideas what could be causing it?

hey.. I’ve got a 2012 CX9 which had a blurry reversing camera. If got worse every time I tried to clean it… eventually I figured while I was resurfacing my headlights that it try the same on the lens of the reversing camera.. and it worked.. instantly improved the reversing camera to as good as new!

I will occasionally clean the lens with glass cleaner and then apply RAIN-X. even in the summer months. It works for me.

DM999, Was your backup camera image very clear when you first bought your car? Because my camera image was always blurry, from day one.

Could there be some coating on the lens? Open the liftgate and take a good look at it. Try just glass cleaner and if necessary a mild solvent like paint thinner followed with glass cleaner. Don't get any solvent on the paint.

Wow! NO, no, no, DO NOT USE Costic chemicals on your reverse camera. Not only the fact that it is *electronic, (*never use thinner or the like on any electrical components) but it has material parts that will become damaged.

There's no film or coating on the camera lens. The plastic camera lens will be ruined if thinner is used on it. I cleaned it with mild soap and it's still blurry.
The image was burry on all the Mazdas that I drove before I bought my CX-9. I think it's a cheap display that Mazda uses in their cars.
Don't get me wrong, the image is usable. It's just not HD quality sharp, like other cars I've driven. I still love my CX-9.
