Angry 2018 CX-5 backup camera

Just purchased a 2018 CX-5. The backup camera works fine during daylight hours. At night, the image is so washed-out, it looks like fog. I cleaned the lens and adjusted the video parameters, but it still appears to have 2 large snowballs on the screen. Thinking the LED bulbs are over-powering the camera, I applied black electrical tape over them. The image has improved, but it's still not clear. It doesn't seem to be compensating for the light conditions. My 2014 6 was perfect. Anyone else experienced this issue?

Did you mess with the settings at all for the back up camera ? In your manual it shows you how to adjust brightness

Yes. Tried it, no help. The 6 was perfect, so I suspect it's a cheap/bad camera or the software needs a tweak.

I have the opposite experience with my backup camera. At night, image is crisper than my Jaguar XF. I'm actually impressed with the camera compared to the Jaguar, so I can't understand why Mazda get so much flack for this. I have seen the 360 camera is terrible - luckily I don't have that abortion, but I'm pleased with mine. Perhaps have the dealer swap it out for a new one?

I know this is not the same thing. But last week I had my first issue with the car. Oh my 2018 GT, the backup camera completely stopped working even after I turn the car on and off a few times. What I had to do was, a factory reset on the infotainment system. Then it came back up but then I also had to program all my radio stations again..
