Default 2016 CX-9 front parking sensors

Does anyone know why the Australian version of the CX-9 would have front parking sensors and not the U.S? They also sell them as an accessory. Anyone heard of someone installing these on a U.S model? Or know any more information? Accessory Details

Contact Mazda USA. Tell them that we want front proximity sensors. At least you do and I do.

I spoke with a Mazda customer rep on the phone. He said that when one of the USA executives drove his first '16 CX9, he wanted front sensors.

Yeah, that's really interesting. I wonder why the omission in the states. I will definitely contact Mazda and at least use my 1 vote.

I noticed as well that mazda 3 in UK have the automatic stop braking system in their base package, course they also strip out the navigator and leather steering wheel as well so the cost seem to balance out. My guess is it is part of their safety requirements, or incentives maybe from insurance companies.

Perhaps Australian regulations require it?

Yeah, I'm assuming so. It's just a shame that something so useful and integrated into the model already was pulled over here. Especially since I'd be willing to give them money for the add on. Maybe that's what the 2017's are for.

No requirements for front or rear sensors in Australia.

I've been told Mazda USA strips down features & lists them as accessories to keep the base price down to compete against other manufactures.

this is correct. They trim features in order to reduce costs.

for example for Mexico the GT don't have the lane assistance and cruise control by radar (but the price for the AWD is 32,000 USD)

+1 on having the front parking sensors on the US-spec CX-9.
