2011 CX-9, cannot manually open the liftgate
We have a problem with the liftgate on our 2011 CX-9, one cannot manually open it from the outside - the handle seems "stuck" and cannot be pressed in.
It opens/closes just fine using the remote control or the via the button on the dashboard but not using the handle on the outside...
Any ideas what could cause this and how to fix it?

Did you get a reply to this here or anywhere else? We have the same or similar issue on our 2011 CX-9.
What I have found is that the handle itself either has crud built up in the pivot areas or the finger from the handle that activates the power release switch is dragging on something.
When you reach your hand up under into the switch area if you try to swing it Forward first before pulling it backwards this usually makes ours work.
I've tried cleaning this area out with alcohol and applied lubricant but nothing has worked.
I am probably going to order a new handle assembly and install it in the coming months.
