My transmission recently had a sudden leak in one of the hoses and dumped the fluid while I was driving, and when i realized it the vehicle was slipping in and out of gears and finally was stuck in 4th. I poured a quart in and the car seemed to resume it's normal driving. About 15 miles later, same issue, so I stop and pick up a couple more quarts and try to get the car home. Long story short ... Before I could get it home it was locked in 5th and alternating revving high with no forward pull to jerking violently in and out of gear. Got the leak fixed and refilled fluid and now 1, 2, and 3 shift fine, but when it slides into 4th there is no pull, just high revving, and the same with 5th and 6th. You think my transmission is done for?

 

Sounds terminal. Probably burnt the clutch packs. Book it in with a transmission specialist for inspection.

 

Thanks, thats what i figured, but wanted someone else to say it. How depressing. Now to figure out if it's worth spending money on any exorbitant cost to repair or replace it.
