Default Tire Question

Howdy guys. I know this is a simple question... but i wanted to double check just in case i'm overlooking something.

My CX-7 (2010 Sport) needs new tires. Costco needs to order them (P215-70R17) and the Mazda dealership is charging $275 for them... then i thought for a second, Do i actually need P215-70R17 like these guy are saying i need, or can i go with, let's say, 225-65R17?

If yes, Then do you guys have any particular makes/models you prefer? I'm looking at Yokohama AVID S33B or Dunlop Signature II.

Thanks for the help.

You need to find a compatible size tyre to insure your speedo wont be out of spec.

So, 1010tires said there was a diameter variance of -1.16%, They recommend no more than 3%, my guess is that it may work... I think i'm going to stop at the STS around the corner since they sell Yokohama and run it past them. Thanks for pointing out the calculator to me.

You want the new tyre to run slightly slower, eg speedo 60 MPH & actual car speed 59MPH or slightly less.
