Default Smart key card doesn't work

The battery in my 08 cx 7 went bad, so I replaced it. After replacing the battery neither one of my smart key cards will do anything (lock, unlock, set the alarm off). Even more annoying, the car will not stay locked. If I am exiting the vehicle and push the power locks, it will lock then immediately unlock every single time. If anyone has any tips I would greatly appreciate it, it has been driving me crazy.

Will the vehicle start?

What about using the emergency key( slotted into the remote) in the door barrel? Not ideal, but worth a shot.

The vehicle starts but only using the emergency key. I haven't tried to lock it with the emergency key yet, I'll have to give that a shot. Definitely not ideal. Seems crazy that the programming of both key cards would be erased just because the vehicle had a dead battery.

It may be as simple as a trip to the dealership for them to be reprogrammed.
