CX7 Turbo - Am I being ripped off?
Have a 2010 CX-7 2.2 litre diesel 110k miles that I've had for a month and bought privately. No problems. Driving in Germany on Friday and suddenly lost RPM down to 2000 and oil light flashing. Stopped the car and oil fine although a bit of a weird noise coming from the engine. Towed to a garage and they've said it's the turbo and 2800 euros to fix it. The car is worth pretty close to that figure. Intended to get it towed (I'm hopefully covered) back to my local garage to have a look. Does this sounds right? I suspect it will be a financial write off and I'll scrap it. Keen on people's thoughts.

Unfortunately, there is not engine information to conclude anything except GUESSING!
But your thoughts to have another service shop look at is is a good idea if not prudent.

As for what you are saying.... they did not do a quality diagnosis IMHO (professionally speaking) based (only) from what you posted.
