CX-7 Refuses to start
I have a CX-7, took it into my garage to give it clean so I can sell it. When I cleaned it I forgot to disconnect the battery and something I did completely drained it. I removed the battery, plugged it into my stick welder. Verified the battery was at 12.4V. When i put it back into the car, and went to turn the plastic **** to start it, the **** refused to turn. The key light flashed green as opposed to red if the wireless key was not detected. Any ideas for fix for this? Like i said i am selling it so looking for whatever is going to get it to sell that isnt going to cost too much or drop the sale price.
Thanks
Thanks
Not sure what you mean by "cleaning "? Did you mean washed the engine? Also you way of checking the battery means nothing except you just measure the current voltage. Invest in a load tester for future battery condition checking and/or get the battery load tested. Make sure that the battery is first charged to 12.50+ volts before having it tested.
As for cleaning anything on the Mazda including the undercarriage and the engine compartment you do not need and should not disconnect the battery. The electrical connectors are water prof and seals rather well.
I pressure wash my engine bay about every 2 months or more if it gets dirty since 2018.
Good luck with your sale of your Mazda and hope that you still own or plan to get another Mazda!

By cleaning i mean i vaccumed the interrior, applied a protectant to the plastic and leather etc. The battery was defenitly dead, it was at lower than 3 volts, regardless of how it happened.
I am going to replace the battery soon, i know its defenitly not a good long term solution, but i dont see how this should stop the key turning. I just dont want to spend money on a battery if the car isnt going to work.

Yes, i am aware the battery is bad but i was able to charge it to 12.4v (doesnt last very long, but hold around the 12v mark). Once i can get the car to start i will replace the battery, but i dont want to spend $200 on a battery until i know i have a working car. The problem i am asking about is not my battery, it is about how the key will not move
The first rule of diagnosing any system or electrical part is having a healthy battery!
If your battery would only go to 12.4 on a charger your battery is bad and should not be continued use which could cause other problem in the ECU operation and other electrical componets.
