Default 2007 Mazda CX-7 Battery Question

Hey everyone, so brand new to the forums, but have had my CX-7 for about 2.5 years now, haven't had many troubles with it all so far except my battery. This is pretty understandable considering I live in North Dakota where temps get pretty cold! A few days ago I ordered a battery blanket (Kats 80W-120V) and want to put it in my CX-7, but I am worried about the battery cover. If I install the blanket can I just remove the cover?

Yes, cars came without battery covers for nearly 100 years. They pretty much do nothing. On rare occasions that a battery explodes it might keep acid off of a few components under the hood. If you happen to be standing over it when it explodes it generally directs it at your face. Some manufacturers add the covers for looks, some to try to keep acid fumes down to a minimum in the engine bay. Your blanket will probably do a better job of all of that.
