Default For Alpha Wolf - Re: Recall issues

Alpha Wolf (or anyone else that knows),

I am going to be buying a CX7 this weekend and I had some questions regarding the reflashes you mentioned. I am not an owner yet, so I cannot login at Mazda's website to see what recall and/or service bulletins they have. I did find one service bulletin regarding the door seal issue and the gas cap problem seems to be pretty well known, so I don't think I will have a problem making sure the dealer has addressed those issues with my new vehicle.

But the reflashes you mentioned might be a different story. Do you know if there have been any specific recall and/or service bulletins regarding the reflashes? Just to see if I have the acronyms right: ECU is electronic/engine control unit and TCU is transmission control unit? Is that correct?

I just want to make sure that when I leave with the vehicle, that I have all of these things addressed already. From the different forums I have read, these three issues (door seal, gas cap, reflash) seem by far to be the most common.

Thanks for your help.

ECU = Engine Control Unit computer controlling the engine
TCU = Transmission Control Unit computer that controls the transmission.

What many call turbo lag is really the ECU governing the engine. You floor it, but the computer only gives partial power until after 2500 rpm. The reflash enables the computer to give more (still not all) power when you punch it.

The ECU reflash caused my TCU to start acting up. Hanging in gears too long before auto upshifting and hunting between 5 and 6 on level highway at 65mph etc. This reflash fixes these problem.

Door seals. Original design was a flat rubber piece that did not touch the door and hence did not keep out dirt, water or noise. The new seal is now rounded thicker and solves this problem.

Gas Cap if you always correctly tightened the gas cap (as I did) no issue. But if you put it on loose, the CEL would light up and require a trip to the dealer to turn off. New cap designed not to do this.

I have many of the TSBs on my computer if you need to have them emailed to you.

Where are you finding these recalls on the internet? I'm going in Monday to have my oil changed and can't find anything.
