Curious, what is the reason for this question? Did your 2.3 die?

Yes 2.3 is dead... have been considering swapping out the 2.3-turbo for a 2.5 with transmission and wiring. will lose some power but have less trouble.
any thoughts.
or even a ford 2.3 eco with tran and wiring.
thanks

Ecoboost series of engines are a totally different to the old LF/L5/L3 series.

Ecoboost is a ford only design.

I just swapped a 2.5 and 2011 interior in my 2008 shell. I tried to get the 2.5 stuff to communicate with the 08 interior but wouldn't. The 2010-2012 interior will fix 100%. Only difference i found is there is no holes for the Bluetooth module bracket

I like the idea of a 2.5 in 2007 shell.
what did you have to do.I know the 2.3 have a 6speed transmission and 2.5 use a 5 speed. did you swap out the tranny too.
how about the computer to run the 2.5, did you rewire, please specify. very interested in doing this swap.
can you give us a write up.
thanks

2.0 ecoboost engine from ford uses the same/simular block but different heads than the 2.3 Mazda that's my understanding.
got the following form the ford winkipedia page.
A 2.0 L version was first seen in the 2008 Ford Explorer America concept.[30] The engine was rated at 275 hp (205 kW; 279 PS) and 280 lb⋅ft (380 N⋅m).It is the first EcoBoost engine to include twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT), with advertised 10–20% better fuel economy while maintaining the performance of 3.0 L V6s.[31]
[32]This engine is derived from the 2.0 L Mazda L engine block used by Ford in the North American Focus MK3, but equipped with unique heads, fuel injection system, and Ford's Ti-VCT. It should not be confused with the Mazda 2.3 DISI Turbo, which also features direct injection along with turbocharging, but shares little else aside from the same engine block. The 2.0 L EcoBoost engine used in North American vehicles is now produced at the Cleveland engine plant in Brookpark, OH.
